Appointing a Chief People Officer for a Prestigious, Regional Independent School

Date Posted:22 October 2025

After leading the search for key executive roles in 2023, the Board re-engaged with the Future Leadership team to support the Board and Executive team in the search for a Chief People Officer. This role plays a pivotal part in the organisation’s learning culture and supports and models the organisation’s values and ethos when engaging with all stakeholders.

Future Leadership, represented by Liam King, undertook a comprehensive briefing with members of the Executive team and key stakeholders. It was agreed that the ideal candidate would be a senior executive leader with experience in building a positive culture, able to provide a vision for leading culture change in the future, and willing to ‘roll up their sleeves’ to achieve outcomes. The successful appointee would be required to demonstrate strong executive-level experience, a desire to contribute to development, and clear alignment with the organisation’s values. The selection panel considered an initial list of five candidates, all of whom progressed to panel interviews, with three advancing to a second round that included a tour and a presentation.

The appointed candidate will commence in the role in June 2024, bringing a wealth of experience in people operations and cultural leadership developed over more than twenty years. Most recently serving in a senior leadership position within a major government health department, the appointee has demonstrated a strong track record in workforce partnerships, planning, and organisational development. This individual is enthusiastic about contributing to the ongoing success of the organisation and is eager to support the next generation of students while embracing a new professional challenge.
