The Brief
Future Leadership™ partnered with a public sector organisation responsible for managing a Financial Assistance Scheme under the Victims of Crime (Financial Assistance Scheme) Act 2022.
The newly created Chief Executive Officer role was tasked with building an organisation that embodies the Act’s objectives and guiding principles. The CEO was expected to ensure victims of crime receive the recognition and financial assistance they are entitled to, while leading a major reform initiative that places victims at the centre of a responsive scheme.

The Process
Future Leadership™ conducted a comprehensive and national search campaign:
- Briefing with Departmental Executives: Collaborated with senior stakeholders to define the ideal candidate profile.
- Targeted Search: Led by an experienced Partner, engaged an Australia-wide search campaign to identify leaders with strong problem-solving skills, agility, and understanding of government processes.
- Candidate Evaluation: Presented a shortlist of proven, values-driven candidates. Five candidates progressed to panel interviews.
- Panel Interviews: Candidates were evaluated on their ability to oversee high-volume operations and support sensitive victim recognition meetings.

The Outcome
Future Leadership™ successfully appointed a highly experienced public sector leader as Chief Executive Officer.
- The appointee brought over 20 years of leadership experience in the Victorian Public Service, with expertise in regulatory agencies such as the Federal Court of Australia, Energy Safe Victoria, and WorkSafe Victoria.
- Their ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and deliver performance-driven outcomes positioned them to spearhead the organisation’s reform agenda.
