The Brief

Future Leadership™ partnered with an independent public sector oversight organisation to appoint a Deputy Ombudsman.

Following the appointment of a new Ombudsman, the organisation sought a Deputy Ombudsman to work closely with the Ombudsman in delivering statutory functions under the Ombudsman Act.

The ideal candidate needed proven senior leadership capability, excellent analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to establish and maintain sound relationships with key stakeholders. Values-driven leadership and a commitment to public sector integrity were critical for the role.

The client brief involved a proactive search nationally seeking proven senior leadership capability, the ability to establish and maintain sound relationships with key stakeholders, excellent analytical, conceptual and problem-solving ability, highly developed communication, consultation, negotiation and influencing skills.​

Values driven leadership was critical and competitive candidates needed to show they could play a leading role in the development of policy recommendations and stakeholder engagement. We actively sought candidates that had a reputation for commitment to public sector commitment

Through active search and targeted research, over 90 well credentialed professionals were considered before deciding on a final shortlist.
