The Brief
Future Leadership was selected to partner with a leading vocational education and training institute on three key leadership positions: Education Design and Delivery Lead, Student Experience Lead and Academic Registrar, and Industry and Innovation Lead.
For the Industry and Innovation Lead position, the institute sought a collaborative leader with a track record in researching emerging trends, building strategic partnerships, and providing expertise in project design. The appointee would be responsible for growing the business, ensuring that all programmes are aligned with industry expectations and outcomes, and collaborating with state government stakeholders on strategies for future regional economic development.

The Process
Through mapping, research, and reference to our extensive database, Future Leadership’s research team identified a number of individuals who are leaders in education development and delivery.
Our team reached out across these networks, engaging in dialogue to gather advice and recommendations on potential candidates. These individuals were encouraged to apply and interviewed by Future Leadership consultants to evaluate their fit with the institute’s requirements and culture. An online advertising campaign further supplemented the search.
The candidate pool included a diverse range of professionals from the education sector, including TAFEs, universities, private education providers, and public sector organisations.

The Outcome
Candidates were interviewed and reference checked by the Chief Executive Officer and leadership from the institute and the ACT Government.
The successful candidate, who has experience across a range of industries including the public sector, ICT, manufacturing, defence, and health, is currently accountable for establishing new centres of industry engagement at a Victorian university. The candidate brings a proven track record of establishing and leading new models of collaboration and industry partnerships. The official announcement of the appointment is pending.
