Future Leadership is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Peter Thatcher as the new Principal of Al-Ameen College.
With over three decades of executive leadership experience across Australia and the Middle East, Dr Thatcher has guided diverse school communities through transformation, expansion, and systemic improvement. A Harvard Graduate School of Education alumnus, Dr. Thatcher is renowned for fostering high-performing, inclusive, and faith-aligned educational cultures, and has shaped the next generation of system leaders. He has led major educational institutions, including Narre Warren South P–12 College—Victoria’s largest single-campus government school—and served as Chief Education Officer in Saudi Arabia, overseeing the US$75 million development of Downe House Riyadh. His leadership has consistently embedded Islamic values within international education frameworks, ensuring authentic integration of faith and culture in every setting. Dr. Thatcher brings exceptional business acumen, driving strategic branding, marketing, and operational growth in both Australian and international school systems, and has received state-level recognition for excellence and innovation, including the Outstanding Leadership Award for Excellence and Innovation and the Excellence in Leadership in Indigenous Education Award. He has also advocated for equity and inclusion, serving as Chair of the Marrung Steering Committee and presenting before the Australian House of Representatives on multicultural education. As Al-Ameen College embarks on an exciting new chapter with the establishment of its Malaga campus, Dr. Thatcher is uniquely positioned to lead the College’s evolution into a multi-campus model. His deep understanding of Perth’s educational landscape, combined with his commitment to academic excellence and spiritual growth, will ensure a seamless transition and continued success for the Al-Ameen community.
