About the opportunity

As the Associate Dean (Education), you will actively contribute to the Faculty through student-centred teaching practice and development and provide leadership to the Faculty in relation to Southern Cross University’s teaching and learning goals, and the Faculty’s 2030 Strategic Plan.

In this pivotal role you will:

  • Provide academic leadership to the Faculty in relation to Southern Cross University’s teaching and learning goals.
  • Support and enhance the student learning experience by fostering a student-centred approach to education delivery and actively engaging in the adoption of existing and emerging learning technology and platforms.
  • Contribute to the Faculty’s research profile through publications in high quality journals, and successful applications for grant funding.

Build collaborative relationships with the other Faculties, Colleges and directorates to promote cohesiveness and University wide cooperation; and cultivate relevant community and professional engagement that supports and enhances the University and Faculty’s profile and priorities.

 

About you

You are an inspiring leader and educator with a track record of excellence in teaching and learning practice and research. You bring:

  • A PhD or a Professional Doctorate in Education, in addition to an initial teacher education degree.
  • Evidence of an established national or international research record in education as evidenced by publications in highly-ranked, peer-reviewed journals, and success in ARC or equivalent grants.
  • A demonstrable track record of high-quality teaching and learning outcomes and indicators of esteem in teaching and learning, including a capacity to lead quality course design and development.
  • An outstanding commitment to education and training through leadership in guiding the development of others and managing teams through intellectual leadership.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Evidence of regular participation in, and contribution to, professional practice, staff development activities, relevant professional bodies, and/or community groups.
  • A passion for mentoring a leading diverse teams toward shared success.

 

Salary and benefits

The University staff benefit from flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work models, generous parental and carer’s leave provisions, wellbeing initiatives, employee assistance programs and professional learning opportunities. This position is full-time, continuing (permanent). Location options are at Coffs Harbour, NSW, Gold Coast, QLD or Lismore, NSW. Generous relocation support available.

The position is offered at Level D or E and attracts a generous total remuneration package.
