The Position
Uniting AgeWell Limited seeks to appoint an outstanding and experienced governance leader to serve as its next Board Chair. This is a pivotal appointment at a time of ambition and significant organisational evolution. With the organisation preparing for a period of strategic expansion, including a significant growth trajectory over the next five years, the new Chair will play a central role in shaping the organisation’s future direction while upholding its core values of Kindness, Respect, Integrity, Innovation and Inclusion.
Reporting to the Board of Directors and accountable to the Uniting Church in Australia Synod of Victoria and Tasmania, the Chair provides strategic leadership and ensures the highest standards of governance, safety, quality and performance. The Chair will guide the Board into its next strategic cycle and lead the launch of the new strategy in the future. A strong grasp of aged care sector dynamics, regulatory frameworks, risk oversight, and clinical governance will be essential, as is the ability to steward complex organisational change while remaining grounded in purpose.
The successful candidate will bring substantial Chair experience coupled with experience gained in aged care either as a Board Member or senior executive and the capability to navigate a large and evolving organisation. They will cultivate a highly constructive relationship with the Chief Executive Officer, maintain trusted relationships with the Church, and be visible and engaged across sites, staff, residents, and stakeholders. This role requires strong commercial acumen balanced with deep values alignment, exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, and the capacity to guide an organisation through growth while ensuring excellence in care, safety and customer experience.
