- Lead strategic stewardship, governance and operations across two colleges
- Deliver financial sustainability, compliance and shared services excellence
- Commitment to Catholic mission, ethical stewardship and child safety
The Position
Catholic Regional College Sydenham and Catholic Regional College St Albans are seeking a Business Manager to work across both schools. This is a senior leadership position operating across two Catholic Regional Colleges within Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS), with responsibility for stewardship, governance, financial sustainability, operational integrity, and compliance.
Each College is independently led by its Principal and Leadership Team. Reporting to both Principals, the Business Manager works in partnership with them to provide coordinated strategic financial and operational leadership, while ensuring each College retains its own financial integrity, governance compliance, and system accountability. The role supports the effective and sustainable operation of each College through oversight of finance, facilities, compliance, and administrative services.
The Business Manager operates within the MACS governance framework and is accountable to MACS through each Principal for compliance with MACS policies and procedures, the Financial Delegations and Accountability Framework, Risk and Assurance frameworks, Child Safe Standards, and State and Commonwealth regulatory obligations. The role requires disciplined stewardship, clear professional boundaries, and the ability to manage dual accountability with integrity and transparency.
This is a senior leadership appointment for a professional who understands stewardship as both a strategic and moral responsibility within Catholic education. All staff are expected to uphold the mission and ethos of the Catholic Church in their professional conduct. All leaders share in the Principal’s mission to bring the life and teachings of Jesus to the heart of the school, promoting a culture of faith, hope, and love. Leaders are called to witness to Christ through their leadership and contribute to a learning environment where every student is known, valued, and supported to flourish.
Across both Colleges, there is a strong commitment to building environments where staff are respected and supported, enabling them to care for students, families, and the wider community. The Business Manager will strengthen financial sustainability, governance, and operational capability across both Colleges, ensuring strong compliance and accountability within the MACS framework.
This is a unique opportunity for a visionary leader to shape sustainable, high‑performing operations across two Catholic schools while exercising stewardship at both a strategic and moral level.
The Organisation
Catholic Regional College Sydenham is a specialist senior secondary Catholic coeducational college (Years 11–12), established in 1982 to provide a dedicated environment for students completing their senior years. Guided by the motto Faith Seeking Understanding and the commitment to Every Student – Every Pathway, the College offers an innovative and comprehensive senior pathways model incorporating the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and the VCE Vocational Major, alongside extensive vocational pathways.
Through its vocational offerings, the College welcomes students from partner schools each week to undertake a wide range of VET certificates, positioning CRC Sydenham as a significant educational hub in Melbourne’s west. This senior secondary focus creates both opportunity and complexity, requiring disciplined financial planning, robust compliance systems and forward-looking operational leadership.
Catholic Regional College St Albans is a Catholic coeducational Years 7–10 College serving families in Melbourne’s north-west. The College provides a strong foundation in learning, wellbeing and faith formation, preparing students for a confident transition to senior secondary education at CRC Sydenham. The junior campus model enables focused pastoral care, developmental responsiveness and strong community engagement during the formative middle years.
Together, the two Colleges operate as independent MACS schools, each with its own Principal and governance structures, yet united through shared mission, shared identity and shared commitment to student transition. For the Business Manager, this dual context requires disciplined stewardship across two sites, respect for distinct leadership authority, and the capacity to align systems and processes in ways that strengthen both Colleges and the Federation as a whole.
