The Position
Ballarat Clarendon College is one of the most consistently high-performing, non-selective, independent schools in Australia. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will play a pivotal role in Clarendon’s learning organisation culture. The CFO reports directly to the Principal and, in consultation with the Principal, oversees all financial matters of the school. With a strategic focus on financial planning, risk management and operational efficiency, including the development and implementation of long-term financial strategies aligned with the school’s objectives, the CFO will ensure a consistent and coordinated school-wide approach to planning and financial risk management.
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and inspirational leader, demonstrating strong financial skills and the ability to partner with the Principal, the Board, Executive Team and key staff at Clarendon. With prior experience developing and executing complex financial management and planning initiatives and displaying a flexible and empowering approach, the appointee will possess sound financial analysis skills combined with strong operational and strategic capability. While previous experience in a school environment is not essential, the ideal candidate will demonstrate the agility and flexibility to adapt to a large school. This is a highly visible position within the school community and the appointee will possess a genuine willingness to understand and appreciate the culture of Clarendon, building relationships with staff and families alike. Tertiary qualifications with a finance focus are essential.

Ballarat Clarendon College is an independent, co-educational day and boarding school located in Ballarat, Victoria.
Clarendon is the fifth oldest private school in Victoria, opening on 6 July 1864 at St Andrew’s Presbyterian church as Ballarat College.
In 1974, Ballarat College and Clarendon Presbyterian Ladies College formally joined to become Ballarat Clarendon College.
