The Position
Latrobe Regional Hospital (LRH) seeks to appoint an Executive Director Mental Health (EDMH) to provide leadership and direction for the delivery of the organisation’s core clinical mental health services, in addition to supporting LRH’s role as the Area Mental Health Service for Gippsland. With a remit to drive significant culture and practice change across the workforce, the EDMH will play a critical role in continuing to transform LRH’s mental health service to meet the needs of the region.
Reporting to the CEO, and working collaboratively with the executive and broader teams, the EDMH will lead the delivery of a person-centred approach to care, supporting the needs of the Gippsland community. With responsibility for the strategic and operational management of all acute bed based and community mental health programs, residential aged care facility and the mental health workforce, the EDMH will continue to build on the values-based culture of the health service, embedding across the division to underpin the delivery of high-quality care. The EDMH will also build collaborative and positive relationships with a broad group of external stakeholders, to support the delivery of mental health services, including consumers, carers, government and other health services.
The successful candidate will be a contemporary, empowering and values-based leader, with the drive and energy to lead the workforce to deliver outstanding service and care within mental health. Described as a leader who is approachable with a growth mindset, the incumbent will have the ability to engage across the complex stakeholder environment, be approachable and kind and have a natural propensity towards mentoring and developing others. Contributing to solution building, including the design of innovative workforce models, the EDMH will bring a strong understanding of the current mental health landscape and will demonstrate the necessary skills to manage complex organisational and cultural change. It is essential that the incumbent demonstrate a commitment to the principles of recovery and the involvement of lived experience experts at all levels of governance.
