The Role
Dutton One, part of the Dutton Automotive Group, are seeking a motivated and people centred General Manager to lead their Victorian operations, their largest regional operation. This critical leadership role involves managing multiple sites and driving exceptional performance in automotive sales, service and operational excellence.
As the General Manager for Victoria, you will oversee the region’s Profit & Loss (P&L), managing a substantial operation that sells hundreds of vehicles monthly and generates substantial annual revenues. You will drive earnings before tax (EBIT) performance, ensuring the financial sustainability and growth of the business.
In this role, you will lead and develop a diverse team of around 40 staff across 6 sites, including the flagship site, the Dutton Garage. Your responsibilities will include overseeing site managers, sales teams, admin managers, and business/finance managers. You will implement best practices for the Victorian region and maintain high standards in advertising, stock management, and customer experience.
You will also manage the vehicle procurement strategy, lead buying teams, and oversee vehicle reconditioning processes to ensure all vehicles meet roadworthy certification (RWC) standards. Additionally, you will drive business development through lead management and test drive processes, achieve finance penetration targets, and manage warranty and aftermarket services.
The ideal candidate will have extensive automotive industry experience, a background in new and used car sales environments, and strong people leadership capabilities. Hands-on operational experience, excellent negotiation skills, and an entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on talent retention are essential for success in this role.
