The Position
Independent Schools Victoria is seeking a strategic, mission-aligned executive to join its leadership team as Head of People and Culture.
The Head of People and Culture partners with the Chief Executive and the Leadership team, leads the strategic people development agenda within ISV and assists member schools through supporting a team who deliver high-level workforce and employee relations advice.
This dual-facing role drives ISV’s internal people and culture strategy, while facilitating services and support to schools in areas such as school employee / industrial relations workforce transformation, and employee engagement.
The role requires a seasoned People & Culture (P&C) executive with a deep understanding of organisational development, wellbeing, employee relations, and comprehends sector-specific challenges. It combines strategic vision with operational delivery, ensuring ISV is an employer of choice and a valued advisor to its members.
The successful candidate will be an innovative and forward-thinking leader with strong emotional intelligence and the ability to inspire and influence leadership and teams. They will bring deep expertise in Employee Relations and Industrial Relations, demonstrate exceptional leadership capability, and be comfortable guiding and empowering a small, high-performing team. While not school-based, this individual will offer fresh perspectives and strategic HR insight aligned with ISV’s mission and values.

Independent Schools Victoria is an organisation committed to the promotion, development and independence of Independent schools and innovative thinking on education and issues affecting those schools.
Membership is voluntary and is open to all registered non-government schools in Victoria. Independent Schools Victoria is a member of the Independent Schools Council of Australia.
It is a member service association supporting more than 230 independent schools state-wide, with over 162,000 students.
