The Position
Melbourne Montessori College is seeking expressions of interest for the role of Principal. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, innovative and dynamic educator to contribute to the continued development of the college as a leading Montessori centre in Australia.
The College Board seeks to attract an exceptional, community minded leader and relationship builder who has significant experience in developing, implementing and evaluating programs for students beyond mainstream education. With knowledge of contemporary trends in experiential and inquiry-based learning, the Principal will maintain the current high standards of excellence, bringing a deep understanding and passion for progressive future focused education, whilst honouring and respecting the Montessori principles.
Reporting to the Chair and the School Board, the appointee will have strong educational leadership experience and excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage the future direction of the school. The Principal will play a key role in collaboration among specialist educators, staff, students and families to steward the development of the personal learning path of each student. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Principal with a deep understanding and passion for progressive education. The appointee will display the values of inclusion and respect, high energy, strong financial governance and interpersonal skills combined with demonstrated analytical and strategic thinking capabilities. Experience across the management of the whole school will be essential to success.
The Organisation
Melbourne Montessori College (MMC) is an independent, co-educational school that offers Montessori education in Melbourne, to children aged from 18 months (walking). Programs include Parent and Toddler playgroups, an Early Learning Program, a Junior School and a Senior School. The Senior School also offers the globally recognised International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for students in Years 11 and 12.
Learning environments are prepared for children and adolescents at each developmental stage and allow each child to build responsibility for their own learning. As a result, the students develop active and inquiring minds and become life-long learners.
