The Position
The QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute seeks a collegiate and inspiring executive to take a leading role in supporting the Institute in the achievement of its vision, mission, goals and objectives through the provision of strategic leadership in cell therapeutics.

Reporting to the Deputy Director and Chief Scientist, the position additionally works closely with the General Manager, Q-Gen. This is a collaborative role that aligns with the Institutes research programs and external partners and stakeholders to accelerate translational outcomes. This role is central to positioning the Institute as a leading and trusted provider of advanced cell therapies and is achieved by working in partnerships with academic, clinical, industry and community stakeholders. Further, this pivotal position will contribute to grant applications, promote translation and commercialisation opportunities from research outputs and ensure compliance with regulatory, ethical and governance requirements.

The Scientific Lead will bring proven experience in cell therapy manufacture and knowledge of cell therapy markets. With a PhD or equivalent in life sciences or a medical degree, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to secure competitive research or external funding. With excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, you will be able to demonstrate successful outcomes that have been achieved through the establishment of strong collaborative networks. Commercial acumen will facilitate translational and commercialisation outcomes, the ability to foster new opportunities will be a key requirement of this role.
