The Position
The Vice Principal at the Women’s College is a Senior Management position that reports directly to Principal and has primary responsible for the management of the College’s extensive academic program. The Vice Principal is the delegate Principal and as such has collaborative leadership responsibilities in relation to all aspects of upholding the College’s value proposition and delivering the Women’s College strategy, as well as delegated oversight of the College’s daily operations when the Principal is away. The Vice Principal has a full-time, residential position at the College, attends meetings of Council and its subcommittees and is a member of all College committees.
The ideal candidate will be an exemplary professional role model for both staff and students, responding optimistically and strategically to the evolving tertiary and residential college landscape. They will lead in a collaborative manner, modelling a positive and proactive approach in a vibrant and dynamic environment. Demonstrating a strong understanding of both national and international tertiary contexts—particularly those relevant to the University of Sydney and other Sydney-based universities—they will engage regularly in a wide range of College and Intercollegiate activities. Additionally, the ideal candidate will take initiative in identifying and participating in appropriate professional development opportunities to support ongoing self-improvement. As the Vice Principal is a residential position, the candidate will be willing to embrace living amongst a cohort of bright young women and be a visible and enthusiastic participant in their community.
The ideal candidate will hold a postgraduate tertiary degree and bring experience from educational and administrative leadership roles. They will possess a strong understanding of current theory and research relating to women’s education and leadership, along with sound knowledge of legislation, compliance, policies, and procedures relevant to the position.

The Women’s College is a leading academic residential college for women in Australia. Established in 1892, it is the first college of its kind in Australia and is situated within the University of Sydney. It currently accommodates 300 students and 55 affiliate (non-resident) members.
