Dr. Stephen Weller has been appointed to the position of Chief Operating Officer at QIMR Berghofer and commenced in September 2024. Stephen has a proven track record of strategic leadership and operational excellence and will bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the QIMR team.
Stephen joins the Institute from the higher education sector, where he successfully led high performing teams across diverse areas, and multiple campuses. Stephen’s most recent role was with Australian Catholic University where he was the COO and Deputy Vice-Chancellor leading, among other initiatives, the Corporate Services Portfolio across services, student experience, and resources. His visionary approach and commitment aligns greatly with our strategic direction and values.
As COO, Stephen will oversee a number of our corporate areas including, Corporate Affairs and Fundraising, Legal, Finance, Information Technology and Scientific Services. His leadership will be instrumental in advancing our strategic goals and ensuring that we continue to provide outstanding support to all of our researchers and stakeholders.
