The Brief

A leading insurance provider engaged Future Leadership to design and deliver a tailored leadership development program for ten team leaders.

These leaders, while all managing direct reports, represented a diverse mix of leadership styles and experience levels within the insurance sector. The program aimed to build leadership capability, foster peer support, and empower participants to lead with greater impact. The initiative was structured to be flexible, evidence-based, and aligned with Future Leadership’s philosophy of extraordinary leadership through practical and psychological insight

The Process

The program was delivered over six months and included a blend of whole-cohort and small group learning experiences.

Key components included:

  • Welcome Session & MBTI Profiling: A virtual introduction followed by personality profiling to build self-awareness.
  • Workshop 1 – Leading Self: A full-day onsite session focused on emotional intelligence, personality types, growth mindset, and time management. This was followed by coaching circles to reinforce learning.
  • Applied Learning Phase: Participants engaged in self-directed activities and team meeting check-ins to embed learning in real-world contexts.
  • Workshop 2 – Leading Others: Another full-day session that built on earlier insights and focused on team leadership dynamics.
  • Celebration Event: A graduation-style session where participants shared their learnings and received certificates of completion.

The program also included optional 1:1 coaching sessions for each team leader, providing personalised support and development.

The Outcome

Evaluation data was collected both before and after the program using FL’s Client and Participant Indices. Key findings included:

  • Engagement and Satisfaction: Participants reported high levels of satisfaction with the program’s relevance and delivery. The phased structure and coaching circles were particularly valued.
  • Leadership Growth: Post-program feedback indicated improvements in self-awareness, communication effectiveness, and leadership confidence. Participants felt better equipped to lead authentically and support their teams.
  • Organisational Impact: The program contributed to a stronger leadership culture within the company, with participants expressing a clearer understanding of their leadership purpose and how to apply it strategically
