
The Brief
Building on a longstanding partnership, Future Leadership was once again engaged to support the appointment of a Deputy Principal, Head of Secondary, at a leading independent school. Having successfully placed a previous candidate in this role in 2019, Future Leadership was delighted to learn of their recent appointment as Principal at another prominent school. We were proud to continue our collaboration with the school to assist in the recruitment of this pivotal leadership position.
The Process
Reporting to the Principal, the Deputy Principal, Head of Senior School is responsible for the overall leadership of the school in conjunction with the effective and efficient daily operation of the Senior School. Future Leadership, represented by Liz Jones, worked closely with the school’s executive team to define the key capabilities required for the role. The ideal appointee would be aspirational, driven, and respectful—someone who actively models positive behaviours for staff and students and builds respect through their actions. A national online advertising campaign supported the search process, and the selection panel was presented with a shortlist of five highly qualified candidates, each completing psychometric assessments prior to panel interviews.
The Outcome
A highly experienced education leader was appointed to the role of Deputy Principal, Head of Senior School, commencing in January 2025. At the time of appointment, she was serving in a similar senior leadership role at a leading independent school, having progressed through a range of teaching and learning positions since her initial appointment as Head of English. With over three decades in education, her career spanned teaching, learning, curriculum development, strategic planning, operations, and student wellbeing. Her leadership was defined by a strong commitment to fostering a culture of professional thinking and learning, as well as building high-performing teams. Known for her dedication to innovation and forward-thinking programs, she consistently supported young people in achieving both academic success and personal growth.
