Future Leadership is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Wilbur Donovan as Head of Learning and Teaching at Girton Grammar School.
Wilbur brings a distinguished record of strategic leadership and innovation in Australian education, underpinned by a passion for developing learning and teaching programs informed by insights from cognitive science. As Foundation Deputy Principal of Newman Catholic College in Cairns, he helped establish the school from its inception and managed operations during a period of rapid enrolment growth and major campus expansion. He has also guided students to state-leading achievement in his own senior teaching.
Mr Donovan has served in advisory roles for the Australian Education Research Organisation (AERO) and the Queensland Government and has significant experience building strong tertiary partnerships that enrich school programs and extend opportunities for students. He is currently completing a Master of Educational Neuroscience, complementing a range of postgraduate and undergraduate qualifications in education, business and computer science.
He has previously held the roles of Acting Principal, Consultant for Learning and Teaching, Sessional Lecturer and Head of Technologies. Mr Donovan has also presented nationally on learning and teaching and has been recognised with multiple state and national awards for his contribution to education.
“It is always a significant step to move into a new role, particularly when it involves relocating interstate and transitioning across sectors. Future Leadership made what could have been a daunting process remarkably smooth. Their professionalism, clear communication, and genuine care created a sense of calm and confidence throughout each stage of the journey.”
