The Brief
Following extensive collaboration and consideration, the Boards of two health services in regional Victoria agreed to appoint a Dual Chief Executive Officer to further strengthen the collaboration and build closer ties to support the communities. Future Leadership was engaged to support the appointment of a new Dual Chief Executive Officer who would drive improved outcomes through the coordination of services across the region, facilitating increased sharing of resources, expertise and best practice.
The incoming CEO would also lead in a highly complex environment to deliver efficiency of services and infrastructure, enabling the provision of services closer to patients and consumers within the communities.

The Process
The briefing process provided the framework for the Future Leadership search strategy. The Board identified that the appointee would be a proven executive leader with an affinity for working in a regional setting. A deep knowledge and understanding of clinical governance systems in a complex environment and astute financial skills in management and service delivery would be essential.
The Board was kept up to date on progress throughout the search with regular updates from the lead Consultant, Sandra Kerr and the Future Leadership team provided a shortlist of candidates to the selection panel. Two rounds of panel interviews were supported by Future Leadership, including management of all logistics and provision of interview questions.
The lead consultant completed 360 degree reference checking for the preferred candidate, and supported the negotiation phase to confirm the appointment.

The Outcome
The successful appointee was confirmed commenced in early February 2024. A highly experienced health sector executive, the incoming CEO demonstrated and inclusive and collaborative style and ability to will work with leaders to build capability and provide support and focuses on codesign as well as strong community engagement to ensure the voice of the community is heard and included in decision making.
