The Brief

Future Leadership was approached by the organisation to embark on a national search for their next Executive Director / CEO. Reporting to the Chair, the Executive Director is a newly created role providing leadership for the delivery of high quality strategic functions that enable the organisation to achieve its goals that allows disadvantaged individuals to access justice.

The Executive Director requires a strong understanding of the role of the legal sector and justice systems at both state and federal levels, with strong senior communication skills and a demonstrated ability to influence change and law reform. As well as demonstrated experience in the rigorous and transparent oversight and management of funding.

An understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is necessary.

The Process

We offered the advantage of a highly experienced team who have supported justice, social services and government sector organisations in the attraction of high calibre talent locally and internationally. A broad range of Executive Director executive searches over a 20-year period have given the firm deep and enduring relationships with current and emerging leaders.

An initial briefing was attended by the Future Leadership consultant and CEOs of two states to identify the specific nuances of the position scope and responsibilities and the desired profile of the successful appointee.

An online advertising campaign was undertaken along with review of our extensive candidate database.

 

The Outcome

A longlist of 10 potential candidates was presented to the Selection Panel.  Six (6) candidates were selected for interview. Following the interview process, the successful candidate was appointed to the role.
