The Brief

Future Leadership was selected to partner with a leading vocational education and training institute on three key leadership positions: Education Design and Delivery Lead, Student Experience Lead and Academic Registrar, and Industry and Innovation Lead.

For the Education Design and Delivery Lead position, the institute sought an experienced VET professional with a commitment to delivering future-focused teaching and learning to help unlock the future of vocational education and training in the ACT.

Working collaboratively across the organisation, the successful candidate would play a pivotal role in executing transformational reform agendas to achieve the goals of the institute’s strategic plan.

The Process

Through mapping, research, and reference to our extensive database, Future Leadership’s research team identified a number of individuals who are leaders in education development and delivery.

The team reached out across these networks, engaging in dialogue to gather advice and recommendations on potential candidates. These individuals were encouraged to apply and interviewed by Future Leadership consultants to evaluate their fit with the institute’s requirements and culture. An online advertising campaign supplemented the search.

The candidate pool included a diverse range of professionals from the education sector, including TAFEs, universities, private education providers, and public sector organisations.

It involves staying up-to-date with the latest educational trends and technologies to enhance learning experiences, improve student engagement, and ensure the curriculum remains relevant to industry and academic needs.

This skill involves designing and delivering educational programmes remotely, using online platforms and digital resources. It requires knowledge of virtual teaching methods, effective communication techniques, and the ability to engage students who are learning from diverse locations.

Learning Management

This skill refers to the administration and oversight of learning processes within an educational institution or organisation. It includes managing learning management systems (LMS), tracking student progress, facilitating assessments, and ensuring that both students and instructors have the necessary tools and support to achieve successful learning outcomes.

The Outcome

Candidates were interviewed and reference checked by the Chief Executive Officer and leadership from the institute and the ACT Government.

The successful candidate was an experienced VET executive with a proven track record in delivering educational quality and leading strategic projects. The appointee had extensive experience working with TAFE NSW and TAFE Queensland, driving organisational change initiatives and professional development activities to ensure the currency and quality of skills.
