The Brief

Future Leadership™ was engaged by a leading private health service in Victoria to appoint a Group Director Clinical Governance.
The organisation sought a strategic and operational leader to oversee clinical governance, safety, quality, and risk functions across nine sites. The role was critical to embedding a patient-centred approach and driving continuous improvement in clinical care outcomes.
The appointment was part of a broader strategy to strengthen systems improvement and support staff and Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs) in delivering safe, effective, and high-quality care.

Key steps included:
• Briefing and Strategy Development: Engaged with senior medical executives to understand the strategic priorities and leadership requirements of the role.
• Targeted Candidate Search: Identified high-calibre candidates with senior clinical leadership experience and a track record in embedding clinical governance frameworks within large health services.
• Candidate Assessment: Conducted behaviour-based interviews and shortlisted candidates with AHPRA registration as Medical Practitioners, Nurses, or Allied Health Professionals.
• Final Evaluation: Shortlisted candidates participated in panel interviews with senior stakeholders.
