Appointed: Associate Professor Paul Preisz

A/Prof Paul Preisz has been appointed as Chief Medical Officer of St Vincent’s Health Network Sydney and commenced in June 2024. In this position, Paul will work closely with the executive team including the Director of Medical Services, Chief Research Officer and Medical Workforce Unit Manager. They will foster excellence in patient outcomes and experiences through clinician leadership with a focus on clinician work satisfaction, clinician led research and evidence-based practice that serves the diverse SVHNS patient community. In addition, they will support the delivery of the SVHNS and SVHA priorities and work closely with the St Vincent’s Sydney Health Innovation Precinct partners to advance health outcomes for their communities.
Paul is highly consultative in his approach and thoroughly enjoys hearing opinions and gaining various views which he feeds into his decision-making style. Paul is cognisant of ensuring he considers all aspects across his leadership and is naturally strategic in his style and uses the available resources to the best of his abilities. Before becoming the Chief Medical Officer, Paul was already Director Emergency Medicine of St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, a position he held for five years. Before this, he held the position of Deputy Director Emergency Medicine with St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney for 24 years.
