Adj. Clin. A/Prof Evan Newnham has been appointed to the position of Executive Director Clinical Operations with Eastern Health. Having been in the Acting Executive Director Clinical Operations position since February 2025, Evan will continue to lead the largest and most complex portfolio within what is one of Melbourne’s metropolitan public health services. He will be accountable for the effective leadership and management of Eastern Health’s hospitals, with operational and financial responsibility for nominated clinical programs and the achievement of access to all hospital-based services.
Evan commenced at Eastern Health in 2008 as a Gastroenterologist and General Physician and completed his PhD through Eastern Health’s Clinical School. Evan has held several clinical leadership roles in General Medicine and Emergency Services and supported the early iterations of Clinical Council through the pandemic. In his role as Acting Executive Director Clinical Operations, he has been responsible for the Clinical Operations Directorate supporting the Programs of Medicine, Critical Care and Access, Women and Children, Surgery and Anaesthetics and Care at Home and Specialist Clinics.
