Future Leadership is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Sean Butler as Executive Director – Curriculum at the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA).
Dr. Butler brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this role, having demonstrated exceptional leadership in both school and system-level executive positions. With a distinguished career that includes serving as the Foundation Principal of Preston High School, Director of Teaching Excellence at the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership, and Acting Director of Implementation at the Department of Education, Dr. Butler has consistently delivered impactful results through strategic planning, collaboration, and innovation.
His academic achievements, including a Ph.D. in System Leadership in Education and a Master of School Leadership from the University of Melbourne, further highlight his commitment to advancing education. As a nominee for the 2025 Senior Education Executive Accelerator, Dr. Butler has honed his skills in executive leadership, policy development, and stakeholder engagement, making him uniquely qualified to lead the VCAA’s curriculum initiatives.
