Future Leadership is pleased to announce the appointment of Jamie Leonard as Chief Marketing Officer at James Cook University, commencing on 31 March 2025. Jamie brings over 25 years of experience in strategic marketing and brand management, having held senior roles at prestigious institutions including Griffith University. His expertise in developing organisational purpose and vision, digital marketing, brand strategy, and customer experience will be instrumental in enhancing the university’s reputation and reach.

At Griffith University, Jamie re-established the university’s purpose-driven brand strategy, “Make It Matter,” which has been widely adopted by students, staff, and alumni. He also developed a model to track return on investment, and brand effectiveness of all marketing and student recruitment activities. Jamie’s innovative approach and data-driven strategies have consistently increased undergraduate and postgraduate applications and enrolments, even against market trends.

Jamie holds a Master of Business Administration from Griffith University and has completed additional further study in innovation and entrepreneurship, and advanced strategic planning and implementation. We are confident that Jamie’s leadership and vision will significantly contribute to the growth and success of James Cook University. His experience and proven track record in the higher education sector make him an excellent addition to the team and we look forward to the positive impact Jamie will have on the university community.
