Mr. Joe McDonald has been appointed to the position of Executive Director Operations with Southern NSW Local Health District and will commence on 20 April 2026. In this position, Joe will be second-in-charge for the District and will lead operations across 11 hospitals 2 community health facilities and a range of District services. Joe will also be responsible for driving performance and improvement programmes, leading major capital works such as the new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital and ensuring clinical governance systems meet national standards.
Joe is a highly accomplished healthcare executive and brings experience driving operational excellence, strategic planning and the successful implementation of transformative initiatives. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated expertise in executive and operational management, policy formulation, capital development and clinical governance.
Most recently, Joe has been the Chief Executive, Hospitals South with Tasmania Health Service. He was previously General Manager. The Tweed Hospital with Northern NSW Local Health District and prior to that, Director, EPAS / Outpatients Services with Central Adelaide Local Health Network.
