Ms. Karen Puvogel has been appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer of Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN). In this position, Karen will lead the delivery of a comprehensive health service, delivering exceptional health and wellbeing services that enhance the quality of life of the community. The next two to five years offers a number of exciting opportunities for the organisation including major projects resulting in more beds and more services, partnerships with private providers and capitalisation on developments in the education and skills sector to deliver greater support for workforces and innovation in the north.

Karen is passionate about creating a difference and contributing to improved health of the community particularly at a time when the presentations of patients are increasing in complexity. As a senior leader, Karen has a strong operational and clinical focus but also brings strength from a strategic perspective with a view to the future.

Karen originally joined NALHN in the position of Chief Operating Officer in 2020 before moving into the Acting CEO position in January of 2024. While Acting CEO, Karen has driven a renewed focus on clinical governance and has been instrumental in creating risk mitigation strategies and structures across the organisation. Karen also held the position of Divisional Director – Aged Care, Rehabilitation and Palliative Care earlier in her career between 2009 – 2018 at NALHN.
