Appointed: Marina Buchanan-Grey
Position: Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer

Ms. Marina Buchanan-Grey has been appointed to the position of Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer with ACT Health and commenced in May 2024. In this position Marina will provide professional and strategic leadership and support the strategic professional policy direction for nursing and midwifery professions across the ACT public health system. Marina will assist in the delivery of workforce reforms and planning while also strengthening and developing opportunities for nurses and midwives to work to full scope of practice such as nurse practitioners.
Marina has over 30 years of experience in nursing and the health care sector more broadly, spanning the United Kingdom and Australia, with the last 15 years having been focused on nursing and midwifery management and executive roles across many facets of the health system. A strong advocate for ensuring that workforce design and models of care are focused on patient and community needs, Marina seeks opportunities to foster interdisciplinary engagement that will inform strategic priorities.
Marina will join ACT Health after having spent over three years in the position of Deputy Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer with the Tasmanian Department of Health with opportunities to act into the Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer role during that time. Marina has previously been Executive Director, Professional Division with the Australian College of Nursing and earlier held positions of Executive Director and Director of Nursing, Division of Medicine with Canberra Hospital and Health Services.
