Bringing an invaluable blend of academic leadership, real-world business experience, and robust teaching and research in Business and IT, Professor Darius Pfitzner has been appointed as Academic Dean at the Australian Institute of Business.  In this important leadership role, he will provide leadership and strategic direction to an integrated academic portfolio, maintaining and further developing academic excellence, contemporary sector-leading content delivery, and outstanding service and support to AIB students.

With over 20 years’ experience in teaching and research, Darius brings a track record in developing standards, systems and processes that support student-centred learning.  Most recently Associate Dean of Innovations at Charles Darwin University, Darius has a distinguished career, with positions including Associate Dean of Learning and Teaching, discipline leadership of Economic and Information Technology, and academic and project leadership for campus deployments in New South Wales and Victoria.

Darius is experienced in designing business courses that align with market demand and industry needs, and has led professional accreditation processes.  He has contributed to numerous academic boards, in addition to learning and teaching committees and policy development bodies, which underscore his broad expertise and commitment to educational excellence.  Furthermore, in alignment with the AIB ethos of the practical business school, Darius brings practical business experience, having owned and managed several successful businesses over the past 30 years.
