Future Leadership is delighted to announce the appointment of Sarah Tymensen as the new Principal of Siena College, Camberwell.

Sarah brings over 22 years of experience in Catholic education, during which she has demonstrated exceptional leadership, a deep commitment to faith-driven values, and a passion for empowering young women to embrace their future with confidence, compassion, and purpose.  Her appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Siena College, as she steps into the role with a vision to uphold and advance the College’s mission of forming ethical, resilient, and confident truth-seekers, inspired by the Dominican tradition and the pursuit of Veritas.

Sarah’s career has been defined by her ability to lead with faith, courage, and compassion, creating communities where students are known, valued, and empowered to use their gifts in service to others.  In her current role as Deputy Principal – Learning & Teaching at Star of the Sea College, she has championed academic excellence, student agency, and wellbeing, while ensuring that faith formation remains central to the educational experience.  Her leadership style is relational, visible, and collaborative, fostering trust, empowerment, and accountability among staff and students. Sarah’s future-focused approach has seen her lead initiatives in digital transformation, curriculum innovation, and evidence-based improvement, aligning with contemporary research and preparing students for the challenges of the modern world.

As Acting Principal at Star of the Sea College, Sarah demonstrated her ability to lead with clarity and decisiveness, overseeing staffing, enrolment planning, risk reviews, and master planning for major building works.  Her strategic leadership, coupled with her governance and financial acumen, positions her to advance Siena College’s Strategy in Action – Towards 2030, particularly in the areas of Leading Edge Learning, Foundations for Flourishing, The Siena Difference, and Contemporary Capability.  Her commitment to girls’ education and belief in its transformative power is evident in her efforts to cultivate confidence, ethical awareness, and solidarity among students, ensuring they are equipped to thrive academically, spiritually, and personally.

Sarah’s faith is central to her leadership, and she is inspired by Siena College’s Dominican identity and its commitment to truth, justice, and service.  She has consistently prioritized faith formation, social justice, and service in her leadership roles, embedding these values into the fabric of school life.  Her participation in the Nagle Education Alliance pilgrimage to Ireland further deepened her understanding of how charism is lived through action and witness.  At Siena College, she is committed to ensuring that the Dominican pillars of Study, Community, Contemplation, and Service shape every aspect of College life, fostering a strong, faith-filled community that cultivates positive relationships and encourages students to engage deeply in their educational journey.
