Sean Morrison has been appointed to the position of Victorian Information Commissioner. Sean will play a crucial role in continuing to build community trust by empowering Victorians to know and exercise their information rights.
Sean has extensive experience in leading legal, compliance and risk teams. He has experience in significant litigation for the state. Sean led the Government’s legal response to the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System and the Commonwealth’s Royal Commissions into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability, and Aged Care Quality and Safety.
Sean joins OVIC following his appointment as Special Investigator at the Office of the Special Investigator, and previous roles serving as the General Counsel at multiple Victorian Government departments. Sean commenced as the new Victorian Information Commissioner, as of 15 February 2024.
