Matthew Maury has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer at the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID). Matthew has a values-driven commitment to serving and leading for-purpose organisations, with a vision for making the world a better place for the most vulnerable and marginalised. He has a reputation for navigating complex change, developing and implementing strategy, building strong culture, nurturing strong and diverse teams, and growing values-based excellence in effective organisations.

Matthew brings extensive leadership in the international development sector, providing insightful commentary on key government policy and influencing significant sector change and reform. Representing ACFID’s vision of a world where all people are free from extreme poverty, injustice and inequality, and where the earth’s finite resources are managed sustainably, he will partner with the Board in designing and implementing its vision and future focussed strategic plan.

Commencing as an interim Chief Executive Officer, Matthew will now lead the Council into its next phase of impact through a unifying presence and maintain a strong public profile to drive a high-level program of advocacy, sector development, promotion and support activities on behalf of member organisations.
