The Position
IIBIT AHE is seeking an accomplished Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to provide strategic and operational leadership across their Higher Education (HE) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) sectors. The CEO will be responsible for ensuring excellence in teaching, learning, research, vocational and English language training, while driving growth, compliance, quality assurance and stakeholder engagement.
The CEO reports to the highly experienced Board of Directors and also works closely with the Academic Board, staff, students, regulators and industry partners to deliver sustainable outcomes aligned with the organisation’s mission and values. In this ‘hands-on’ executive role, the CEO will develop and implement strategic plans, foster innovation in academic programs and industry partnerships, and ensure compliance with TEQSA and ASQA regulatory frameworks. Key responsibilities include overseeing the development of new and existing programmes and projects, financial management, monitoring enrolments and student outcomes and driving continuous improvement in systems and staff performance.
The CEO will also maintain strong governance in line with the Australian Higher Education Standards Framework and Standards for RTOs, manage risk and audit practices and ensure all policies and procedures meet quality and compliance requirements. As the public face of the organisation, the CEO will promote the GHE and GEI reputations nationally and internationally, engage with employers to align education with workforce needs and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture that values diversity, equity and inclusion.
The ideal candidate will have proven senior executive experience in higher education and/or VET, an understanding of TEQSA and ASQA compliance, operational and financial management expertise and exceptional stakeholder engagement skills. Experience in dual-sector organisations and/or a track record of innovation and organisational transformation are highly desirable.
A professorial title will be available to an eligible candidate subject to meeting the requirements of the institution’s Professorial Appointment and Promotion Policy and Procedure.
