  • Contemporary finance and business leadership role supporting this dynamic, multi-campus school
  • Drive strategic growth and operational excellence
  • Bring an innovative mindset and dynamic approach

The Position

St Margaret’s Berwick Grammar seeks to appoint an accomplished and strategic leader to the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO). This is a pivotal executive role, reporting directly to the Principal and serving as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team. The COO will be responsible for driving operational excellence and supporting the school’s mission of academic achievement, character development, and community engagement as it approaches its centenary.

The COO will oversee a broad portfolio including Finance, Administration, Risk, Facilities and Maintenance, IT, HR, Enrolments, Events, Alumni, Facility Hire, and Business Development opportunities, and will also serve as Company Secretary. The COO will ensure the effective stewardship of resources and delivery of high-quality services across the school’s multi-campus environment. This will be a critical role to support the school’s growth ambitions, including the expansion of enrolments and the delivery of major capital works. As such, expertise in fundraising, managing building programs and capital projects, and a demonstrated ability to lead complex operational functions will be essential.

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader who champions a culture of high performance, inclusion, and continuous improvement. Demonstrating sophisticated financial management, strategic thinking, and the ability to foster strong relationships with staff, students, families, and the broader community the appointee will bring proven experience at executive level within schools or comparable sectors such as health or not-for-profit organisations. A commitment to upholding the values and vision of St Margaret’s Berwick Grammar, and the ability to navigate the opportunities and challenges of a dynamic, growing school, will be key to success in this position. A CPA/CA qualification is essential with an MBA highly regarded.
