The Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA), Australia’s peak professional body for professionals and researchers in gastroenterology and hepatology, establishes, promotes and continuously improves the standards of clinical practice throughout Australia, to deliver the highest standards in patient care. As the voice of members, GESA works with Federal and State Departments of Health and other policy setting organisations to promote the highest standards in the field, strongly supported by GESA members representing the organisation to shape the future of gastroenterology and hepatology in Australia.
Reporting to and working closely with the President and Board, the CEO will provide visionary leadership and strategic direction, advancing the work of GESA in support of the sector. Ensuring operational efficiency, including oversight of digital transformation, the CEO will continue to build engagement with membership, assisting members to achieve their goals and leading the strategic approach to advocacy, government relations and presence in key policy discussions. With a strong educational portfolio and annual events, including international presence, and a strategic plan for the delivery and growth of research initiatives, the CEO will lead a dedicated team to deliver on the strategic imperatives, that will contribute to member value and impact.
The incumbent will bring expertise as a C-suite leader within healthcare, colleges or not-for-profit environment and be an empowering, collaborative and responsive leader. The incoming CEO will have a strong commercial and operational lens and well-developed financial acumen to drive efficiency, growth and sustainability. With a proven ability to build relationships across a broad stakeholder environment, the incumbent will be influential supporting advocacy and policy discussions. A supportive and respectful leader, who inspires and engages the team, the CEO will be adept at building capability, driving best practice and display a strong approach to corporate governance. Qualifications in business or health administration, management or related field will be essential.
