  • Lead clinical excellence and capability at scale in a complex, regulated environment
  • Influence quality, risk and clinical practice across a multi state portfolio of aged care homes
  • Drive innovation, curiosity and continuous improvement

The Position

Estia Health is one of Australia’s leading residential aged care providers, guided by a deep commitment to dignity, quality of care and the wellbeing of residents, families and staff. Operating a national portfolio of nearly 100 homes across Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia, Estia Health is entering a pivotal phase in its evolution defined by rising resident acuity, a new regulatory landscape and a clear ambition to strengthen clinical excellence and professional practice at scale.

The Head of Clinical Excellence plays a central role in shaping how clinical leadership, capability and judgement are applied across the organisation. Reporting to the Chief Quality and Clinical Officer, this highly visible role provides senior clinical leadership at enterprise level, working alongside operational and quality leaders to ensure that evidence‑based practice is consistently translated into everyday care across a complex, multi‑site environment.

This role is fundamentally about influence and impact. The Head of Clinical Excellence will be a trusted clinical authority whose professional credibility supports strong engagement with senior operational leaders and home-based leaders. The key focus of the role will be strengthening clinical capability across the workforce.  This will include embedding a clear and practical clinical competency framework, translating clinical risk insights into responsive education and practice improvement, and reinforcing expectations around professional accountability and safe care delivery.

The Head of Clinical Excellence will play a critical role in ensuring clinical governance expectations are clearly articulated, well supported and demonstrable in practice. This includes supporting homes to respond with consistency, confidence and clarity.

The successful candidate will be an experienced senior clinical leader who brings intellectual curiosity, sound judgement and a strong sense of professional responsibility. The incumbent will demonstrate a willingness to seek out, interpret and apply contemporary research, ensuring clinical practice continues to evolve in line with emerging evidence. The role will require the ability to translate insights to inform decision‑making, contributing thoughtfully to executive and Board‑level discussion and well‑evidenced advice. Operating with independence and resilience, the Head of Clinical Excellence will influence practice through credibility and relationships rather than positional authority, and balance clinical rigour with the practical realities of a complex, fast‑paced operating environment. Tertiary qualifications in Nursing with current AHPRA registration will be essential, with postgraduate qualifications in leadership, clinical education, or advanced nursing practice highly desirable.

This is an opportunity to shape clinical practice across a large and diverse organisation, leaving a meaningful and lasting contribution to the quality of care experienced by residents.

The Organisation

Estia Health is currently a privately owned organisation with a clear focus on stabilisation, growth and the consistent delivery of high‑quality care. The organisation has continued to expand through acquisition and organic growth, applying consistent systems, processes and clinical governance arrangements across its portfolio.

Estia Health is described as a high‑engagement, mission‑driven organisation, with a strong emphasis on residents, quality of care and practical follow‑through. The executive team is visible and hands‑on, with an expectation of collaboration, accountability and meaningful impact. Clinical excellence is a recognised strategic priority, supported by continued investment in practice foundations, quality and risk capability, and executive oversight of clinical governance.
