The Council is entering a period of transformation, driven by rapid population growth and shifting community needs. As part of this evolution, the Infrastructure Services directorate is building a refreshed leadership team to deliver streamlined, high-impact services across the municipality.
About the role
As part of this transformation, the Council is seeking a strategic and operationally focused leader to take on the role of Manager City Amenity. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the city’s public spaces are clean, safe, and welcoming — reflecting the pride and expectations of the community.
The successful candidate will lead a large, multidisciplinary team responsible for civil maintenance, cleansing, open waste management, fleet, and building maintenance. This is a high-impact role that requires a balance of strategic thinking, operational excellence, and people leadership.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee the delivery of civil maintenance services including roads, footpaths, signage, and drainage.
- Manage cleansing operations, waste collection contracts, and building maintenance programs.
- Lead the mechanical workshop and public lighting maintenance.
- Drive continuous improvement in service delivery, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
- Oversee cemetery operations and fulfil Trust Secretary responsibilities.
- Build a high-performing, inclusive team culture aligned with Council’s values of Respect, Courage, and Integrity.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Demonstrated leadership experience in civil operations or infrastructure maintenance.
- Strong contract management and financial acumen.
- Proven ability to lead large operational teams and deliver high-quality public services.
- A collaborative communicator with a focus on innovation and community outcomes.
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline is highly desirable.
- A current driver’s licence is essential.
