Champion national and international strategic initiatives in this high-profile national institute.
The Brief
Future Leadership had a long-standing relationship with a national education institute, having previously appointed the former CEO and several other senior executive positions.
The institute sought a new CEO in late 2018, someone capable of fostering and promoting the institute’s reputation, while maintaining a broad network across senior education and government levels. The CEO would be responsible for overseeing the development of new opportunities and leading the organisation’s shift towards more commercial ventures. The Board sought a high-profile leader with extensive knowledge of the Australian education sector, with a particular emphasis on Commonwealth and State/Territory systems, alongside an entrepreneurial style and comfort with the nuances of the public sector.

The Process
Future Leadership developed a comprehensive search strategy, targeting candidates across Australia and selected international locations, including New Zealand, the UK, the USA, Canada, and Hong Kong.
Special focus was given to Australian expatriates wishing to return home. Candidates were sourced from educational institutions, universities, health organisations, and government departments. The search process was supported by national print media and online advertising, and Future Leadership managed the full selection process, including panel interviews and reference checks.
A key component of the appointment was the requirement for the selection to be approved by both the national Minister for Education and the Prime Minister & Cabinet.
