The Position
St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital is seeking an experienced and values‑driven Perioperative Services Manager to provide strategic, clinical and operational leadership across perioperative services, including seven operating theatres and associated pre‑operative and post‑operative care areas.
Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, this senior leadership role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, high‑quality, patient‑centred surgical services while driving operational performance, workforce capability and service innovation. Working in close partnership with executive leaders and Visiting Medical Officers, the Perioperative Services Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping the future direction of perioperative services and supporting the hospital’s strategic objectives.
The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in perioperative nursing leadership within a hospital environment and demonstrate strong capability in clinical governance, accreditation, workforce leadership and operational management. A strategic mindset is essential, with the ability to translate organisational strategy into effective service models, optimise theatre utilisation and balance day‑to‑day operational demands with longer‑term planning and sustainability.
This role requires a collaborative leader who can build high‑performing teams, foster positive medical engagement and lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance patient outcomes, safety and service efficiency. Financial stewardship, including budget oversight, resource management and equipment planning, is a core component of the role.
Applicants must be Registered Nurses with current AHPRA registration and significant perioperative leadership experience. Postgraduate qualifications in perioperative nursing, health management, leadership or business are highly regarded, as is experience within private hospital environments and accreditation frameworks.
