The Brief

Building on a strong and trusted partnership with Future Leadership, a leading Melbourne independent school engaged our support to appoint an accomplished and forward‑thinking Chief Information Officer. Leading a substantial team and a broad, complex portfolio, the CIO role sits at the heart of the school’s senior leadership and is pivotal to shaping its future technology vision.

As a strategic advisor and partner to the Principal, Executive, and School Council, the CIO is entrusted with developing and delivering a robust, integrated, and future‑ready information and technology framework. The role encompasses end‑to‑end responsibility for IT operations, enterprise technology strategy and innovation, alongside the oversight of governance, compliance, and risk—ensuring technology enables excellence across the entire school community.

 

The Process

An established education organisation engaged Future Leadership to support the appointment of a senior leader in a key technology‑focused role. The position forms part of the broader leadership structure and contributes to the organisation’s ongoing evolution and long‑term priorities.

Working in partnership with executive stakeholders, the role provides guidance across information, systems, and digital capability. The focus is on supporting effective operations, enabling future needs, and ensuring appropriate oversight across technology‑related activity.

The Outcome

The appointment was confirmed, with the successful candidate commencing in mid‑2024. Identified through Future Leadership’s broader network, the individual brought extensive experience across senior technology roles and a strong track record operating in complex environments.

In this role, the appointee will contribute to the organisation’s ongoing technology direction, providing leadership across systems, digital capability, and service delivery. With a strategic and people‑focused approach, they will support the effective use of technology to meet current needs and position the organisation for future opportunities.
