The Brief
In December 2024, Future Leadership™ was engaged to support the appointment of a new Vice Principal for a prestigious independent Anglican girls’ school in Perth. A comprehensive briefing was held on 4th December 2024, led by the school’s Principal and attended by Liam King, Senior Partner at Future Leadership™. The session outlined the strategic priorities for the role and the cultural context of the school, with a number of action points agreed upon by the College’s Executive Team.
The Process
The Future Leadership™ team, led by Liam King, commenced the search with an initial briefing held via MS Teams with the Selection Committee, followed by a site visit to the school. During the visit, Liam engaged with a broad range of stakeholders, including the Board Chair, Principal, Leadership Team, students, and parents, to gain a comprehensive understanding of the school’s culture and strategic priorities.
The search strategy focused on identifying candidates with strong educational leadership, the ability to build strategic partnerships, commercial acumen, and a proven track record in enhancing financial sustainability. Future Leadership™ leveraged its national network of referral partners and known candidates, complemented by a targeted online advertising campaign to maximise reach.
A detailed shortlist report, including psychometric assessment results, was presented to the Selection Committee. All shortlisted candidates were required to receive approval from the governing body, with Future Leadership™ facilitating this process. First-round interviews were conducted in person, and the preferred candidate was invited for a second-round onsite visit, which included a formal presentation, stakeholder meetings, and a school tour. Comprehensive 360-degree reference checks and probity clearances were completed prior to the final appointment of the Vice Principal at Perth College.
