The Brief
The Future Leadership team was delighted to partner with an independent social service network on the appointment of their Chief Executive Officer. Their mission is to unite families across borders.
The appointee would need to have a successful CEO track record, and expertise engaging with state and federal governments. Experience in securing funding from both governmental and philanthropic sources is critically important.
A background in legal, social work would be ideal with a track record in running an organisation and driving revenue and growth. International experience would be a bonus.

The Process
Future Leadership undertook a comprehensive briefing with the President and Vice President. In addition to this, the Future Leadership team represented by Adam Kyriacou and Pauline Gates conducted a national search utilising our broad candidate and referral partner networks.
The Future Leadership team sought to identify a candidate who was a strong strategic thinker with well-developed strategic business plan development, capability to establish an enterprise vision and a coherent implementation plan. They will need to be able to create and lead a high performing team in a work environment that empowers and respects people, values diversity, promotes mutual trust and encourages cooperation and support.
A total of 84 applications were received, following Future Leadership interviews 8 candidates were presented to the selection panel with 4 proceeding to client interviews.
The Outcome
The successful candidate was appointed and began the role in November of 2024. They were the first Australian National Children’s Commissioner.
The successful candidate has experience leading in government and non-government settings with extensive leadership in human rights and practical expertise in child protection, foster and kinship care, juvenile justice, and children’s services. They were awarded AM in 2021 for significant services to children, to human rights, and wellbeing initiatives.
