Contemporary governance leadership role working with collaborative leadership team.

The Brief

Future Leadership was retained by the Chief Executive Officer of a local city council, to lead a comprehensive search process to identify a highly experienced, strategic and contemporary Governance professional with experience inducting a new Council.  The organisation had been to market several times, but a suitable candidate had not been identified.

The ideal candidate would have a reputation for the highest levels of integrity and the ability to translate governance and risk requirements to different audiences.  The role would be a key contributor to building a leading, modern and open organisation.

The Process

A detailed briefing was undertaken, the key attributes and competencies required were identified and a comprehensive search strategy was agreed.  As the local city council was currently under Administrators, only candidates with a demonstrated track record of integrity, credibility and experience were to be approached.

The consultant team at Future Leadership leveraged their extensive contacts nationally across Local Government, public and private sectors and Government Business Enterprises to identify and approach potential candidates. A tight marketplace, along with four other Councils in market for the same position, the ability to move fast and conduct highly confidential and sensitive engagement was critical to the success of the assignment.
