Appointment of a decisive, values driven leader with strategic foresight to navigate complex challenges, inspire organisational growth, and drive impactful change in a rapidly evolving sector.
The Brief
Future Leadership was engaged by a leading national ombudsman service to conduct the search process for their new Ombudsman in February 2022. A detailed briefing discussion was held with the Chair and the selection subcommittee.
During this discussion, it was revealed that the organisation was facing workforce management challenges and that the energy sector was experiencing significant disruption and innovative change. The organisation aimed to continue building on its strengths in policy and advocacy, searching for a leader who could foster a positive culture, gain staff trust, and effectively navigate the rapid changes within the sector.

A targeted national search and online campaign were conducted, focusing on high-calibre candidates with leadership experience in dispute resolution bodies, relevant not-for-profit organisations, regulatory agencies, related legal and community service organisations, as well as driven and growth-oriented second-in-command candidates.
From a longlist of nine candidates, six were shortlisted for the first round of panel interviews. After thorough discussions, it was decided that three finalists would proceed to a second round of panel interviews.
