Future Leadership is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Andrew Hirst as Deputy Head of Senior School – Operations and Co-curricular at Cranbrook School.

Dr Hirst brings over three decades of experience in educational leadership, operational management, and co-curricular innovation across leading independent schools in Australia. His recent tenure at Cranbrook has been marked by a deep commitment to the School’s vision of holistic student development and a passion for fostering environments where students thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Throughout his career, Dr Hirst has led school-wide co-curricular planning and built inclusive programs in sport, service, and the arts. He has chaired cross-departmental committees to align operational functions with student outcomes, managed complex scheduling and timetabling in collaboration with academic and administrative teams, and partnered with parents, staff, and students to build vibrant school cultures founded on respect, engagement, and pastoral care. Dr Hirst has served in senior leadership roles at Kinross Wolaroi School, Newington College, The Hamilton and Alexandra College, and Cranbrook School, consistently demonstrating a leadership philosophy centered on clarity, collaboration, and care.

Balancing logistics with human-centered leadership, Dr Hirst supports staff and ensures students experience a values-driven co-curricular journey.
