Kate Barbat appointed as the new Deputy Head of Senior School – Student Engagement at Cranbrook School

Future Leadership is delighted to announce the appointment of Kate Barbat as Deputy Head of Senior School – Student Engagement at Cranbrook School.

Kate brings over 23 years of experience as an educator, with a distinguished background in wellbeing and positive education. Most recently, Kate has served as Head of Positive Education and Visible Wellbeing P–12 at Ravenswood School for Girls, as well as Chair of the NSW Positive Education Schools Association (PESA). In these roles, Kate has designed and delivered world-class positive education and wellbeing programmes, promoted both personal and academic growth, and provided strategic leadership in staff professional development and pastoral care.

Kate is recognised for a relational and evidence-informed approach, fostering agency, connectedness, and a strong sense of belonging within school communities. Kate’s leadership has included the development of award-winning positive education curricula, innovative mentor programmes, and visible wellbeing frameworks for both staff and students. Kate’s work is grounded in research and best practice, with a focus on building thriving educational environments where students are empowered to lead fulfilling lives and contribute positively to the world around them.

Kate’s appointment reflects a commitment to strategic leadership, student engagement, and the continued growth of Cranbrook School as a flourishing coeducational community. We look forward to Kate’s vision and energy as the school embarks on this exciting new chapter.
