The Position
Reporting to the Director Customer and Performance, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) provides strategic and operational leadership across Knox City Council’s technology and information services, shaping the future direction of technology to support high quality, community focused service delivery.
This is a critical enterprise leadership role responsible for developing and driving a clear, practical and forward looking technology strategy and roadmap. Working closely with the Executive and Senior Leadership Team and leaders across Council, the CIO will shape Knox’s future technology environment, aligning systems, platforms and digital capability with Council’s broader transformation agenda, target operating model and emerging organisational needs.
The CIO will ensure the reliability, performance and security of Council’s technology environment, while enhancing digital capability and leveraging emerging technologies to improve service delivery and organisational effectiveness. The role also leads enterprise cyber security, data governance and information management practices, ensuring robust controls, resilience and informed decision making.
Leading a multidisciplinary team, the CIO will foster a culture of trust, accountability and collaboration, building capability and a cohesive, high performing function aligned to a clear purpose. The role will also partner closely with stakeholders across the organisation and externally to ensure technology delivers measurable outcomes.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, politically astute and people-focused executive with extensive experience leading in complex environments. They will bring strong capability across digital transformation, cyber security and enterprise technology leadership, combined with the ability to build trusted relationships, lead high performing teams and support a positive, customer focused culture.
Local government or similarly complex service delivery experience will be highly regarded.
