The Position

As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Manager Arts, Culture & Place provides strategic, operational and people leadership across a diverse and high-impact portfolio. This role is responsible for the holistic management of arts, culture, libraries, festivals, events and community and cultural hubs, ensuring services and assets respond to community needs, and all approaches align with Council’s Corporate Strategy and its long-term vision, MV2040.

Leading a multidisciplinary department, the Manager will drive innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement while overseeing service delivery, capital works programs, budgets and compliance. The role plays a vital part in strengthening social connection, supporting lifelong learning, and activating vibrant cultural places where communities can thrive.

This is an executive leadership opportunity for an accomplished leader with strong local government or comparable sector experience, who brings strategic thinking, financial acumen and a people-centred approach to creating meaningful cultural outcomes.
